Being your own hero was the theme of this entire series. It's the (almost) monochrome collection in between colorful ones I've been doing lately.

Marbled simplicity chevron
No one knows the struggle of getting where you are now. This chevron is clean and simple - - looks effortless, doesn't it? Behind every chevron is hours of work; and behind all your wins, there are a lot of things unseen.

Shifts in marble
The smallest piece in the series is this mini chevron. Just like its two other cousins, it's about making sense of being your own hero.

Inked Marble chevron
Did you know that when Marble is first quarried, it's very malleable? This is why great sculptors liked working with it. After some time, age hardens the marble.
Doing chevrons makes sense of my thoughts. I wanted ink blots with this particular chevron collage. It's like little moles on my face I've come to recognize as a special part of me.

Inked Marble weave
The biggest weaved collage I've ever done so far: Inked Marble. Meditating on the feeling of this entire collection, weaving it all together felt like I was solidifying my reflections. One of them was about accepting yourself and all the imperfections you have; the mistakes you've made so far - - and still being able to move towards something beautiful.

Marbled gestures
There's something so special the first time I heard about "the hero's journey". This painting is much like the first few steps into something unknown.
